That shit is just not funny

Have we reached a point where the constant humorous reels about war are going too far? And what do you find believable? Is media reaching a point where it is irrelevant and untrustworthy?

Why’s that shit not funny anymore? Let me explain. I don’t mean the reels with animals doing goofy things, or the babies being cute, the kids falling on their heads, or the stand up comedians. These and many more are funny, and if you get lucky you can scroll these all day. Laughing away as you build up your thumb muscle.

What I mean is the broader shit, the shit that tells us social media is supposed to know you and give you content you want to see. So why give me content that is bullshit, or worse, give me content that is politically divisive. Politically I sit somewhere in the middle. You show me too much about peace marches and everyone should respect everyone's views and wants, well, that is just not the real world.

On the other side, if you show me racist and and anti-immigrant propaganda then it triggers me so bad.

The use of the media to spread hate is one of the worst things about humanity at the moment. It feels like every swipe and click eventually take us to a place where the shit is just not funny anymore. The jokes about Trump might have been funny, but now they leave us in a state of not knowing the truth. Currently I am bombarded with how well the war is going for both the US, and Iran. So many reels evidencing everything is okay on both sides. And then, in a swipe, that can flip to showing me how disastrous this is for the world. How China want to save the world, and straight on to the destruction of Israel and the middle east. How petrol is going to run out, or become so overpriced, which creates more panic, and then more hate.

At some point we have to ask, who are the companies in the middle driving content to their agendas? And why is it almost designed to create division and hate? This is the shit that is not funny any more. This is the shit that made it into my book as me messing about with ideas as to why the world would come to an end (without using the obvious nukes and AI).

In the end, the hate and division goes further than wars. Society breaks down. Riots and paranoia. Hating your neighbour. Hating the political systems and the super rich. Hate, hate, hate. Until someone has had enough and resets technology, wipes the financial systems and reduces the population of the world to less than a billion in under a week.

Okay, so that is why the book is fiction, but things need to change right?
